Some people know their four year plan for college, already have their major declared and probably know where they will intern after graduating. I am not one of those people... yet. Don't get me wrong, I have plans and ideas, but on every form I fill out asking what I want to do, I still mark 'Unknown'.
For me, planning and packing for my college dorm was a cool process because it was the first time I ever started from square one with my own space. I spent a lot of time looking for decor from different places to avoid having a dorm room straight from a magazine. Creating my cozy spot was exciting and definitely made college more surreal as move in day got closer.
I collected real crystals from Jackson Hole, WY (a state with hidden gems scattered throughout the emptiness), I scavenged for stunning stones on Pictured Rocks Lakeshore (a magical coastline that spans along Lake Superior) and I raised three baby succulents to add life into my cinderblock dorm.
The flip side to college is leaving the life I've always known behind. Although I will only live 30 minutes away from home, moving on a campus is still a whole new world. I know I will grow to love it, but I will miss seeing my dog Cooper, my amazing family and my wonderful boyfriend on a regular basis.
I move in on August 21, 2018 (tomorrow as I am writing this) and I can not wait to see where these next eight months take me.
